I used digital painting, adopted the painting method of environmental design in concept art and combined with video
editing special effects to complete a nearly 5 minutes video.
I want to use my work to show the dilemma of online survival that creators face in the era of attention economy, so as to
trigger the creator’s dialectical thinking on the influence of online public opinion.
Alice’s paintings did not appear in the entire video. I used the audience’s dialogue to describe the look of this work and the technique of moving the camera and zoom in to show the reaction of different groups of viewers to Alice’s paintings in 3 different scenes. The audience’s dialogue showed how Alice changed her work to suit the audience’s preferences based
on the audience’s reaction, and the audience’s discussion on other social issues triggered by this work. In addition, for a
painting, the audience did not pay attention to and think about the meaning that the author wanted to express. Instead, as
the popularity of the work rose, everyone’s focus deviated from the work itself and shifted to other issues.
Based on research, nearly 70% of contemporary online media users have not reached the educational level of a university.
Blindness is more likely to be instigated and become a feature that netizens cannot ignore. I tried to show the status quo of the Internet through the audience’s discussion of other social issues in the film, and stimulate the creators to think about whether the comments brought by such audiences are worthy of referencing, and how to refer to it? I threw this question to these people at the end of the film.
The dialogue in the film involves stereotypes of male and female genders, as well as some blind values in society. The
design of the dialogue is based on my data collection of different websites and countries’ netizens in 2018-2020 to adapt the content of the discussion on related topics.
The reason why I don’t show Alice’s paintings: I try to imitate a social network where people are used to using public opinion to understand things themselves, instead of focusing on the truth.
